Birthday in the Toilet

My birthday was not so good. At 11pm the night before, I started to get diarrhea. I was then in the toilet every half and hour for the next 24 hours.

When I started to get stomach cramps in the middle of the day, I decided to start taking the antibiotics that I had brought with me. I took one and then soon afterwards threw up. I later read in the Lonely Planet that you should seek medical attention and/or antibiotics after 48 hours of diarrhea, and since I was feeling better and didn't want to mess my body balance up with antibiotics, I stopped taking them.

So I probably have contributed to a world calamity and I am so sorry to all of you for that. Some medical students that I met told me that I had done the very worst thing possible with antibiotics. I just hope that I puked it all up.

I was feeling depressed about a number of things that are going on in my life at the moment and was feeling very depressed. I was thinking "What am I doing here in India? I should be with my family." I called home and that helped a lot. I almost changed my flight and went back to the UK around that time.

Since then, I am feeling more positive. I have become more comfortable here and I am able to enjoy being a visitor.
