Summer Solstice

The shrill, warbling echo drills into their trunks,
their leaves translucent with chlorophyll
as the primeval sun rises slowly amongst them,
and bathes in the marshes,
anointed by flocks of birds.

There are memories of cart wheels upon this cool chalk,
beneath the light-blue sky peeking in
between branches and leaves
to the hidden chill of four a.m. in a world
that is all mine.

"This is a beautiful poem, Duncan!" — Rou

"Yah, Baby, yah!
Awesome poetry!
From the heart.
Revealing, poignant,
And convenient that it's
Quickly readable to a
Listening public on the run!" — Charley
